Nikita Jain, an Indian Textile Designer based in New York, embodies tradition and innovation in her craft, driven by a deep commitment to sustainability and social impact. She has an undergraduate degree in Textile Design from India and a Master's of Fine Arts in Textiles at Parsons School of Design, NYC. By blending diverse techniques and repurposing materials, including food and temple waste, Nikita addresses overconsumption in textile production. Inspired by the traditional patchwork techniques, her creations feature intricate layering and play of light and shadow, all achieved through natural dyeing and her no-waste approach that incorporates fabric remnants into new creations. Collaborating with master craftsmen, she develops unique fabric collections and leads workshops that engage communities in the creative process. Nikita continuously explores new fiber techniques like weaving, dyeing, patchwork and deeply researching traditional textile processes.
